I was mentioning my personal experience, I am not writing off anyone who wants the Off Line editor. And I was just stating facts and basically saying the only way I am getting by without the off line editor is that I have a WING so I am one of the lucky ones to have it so I can get by. So when I wrote “would really be nice” that is my way of saying that I want something. When I said “While I think an offline editor would be really nice to have I have been using the WING for concerts and been getting along fine without an offline editor but I have had easy access to a WING.” The way I talk and write I try not to use statements that are absolutes. I think you are misinterpreting what I wrote. I try to help people with their questions and a lot of those people (how shall I say it) are new to sound. A lot of people that post on forums asking questions and complaining about something are not as experienced as you are and we don’t usually know their experience level. We don’t know each other but now that you have told us something about you I have a better understanding. I totally agree with you that the Wing has great features, and I also agree that it's features are an big improvement over the X32/M32,īut the Wing is still not a complete product and the X32/M32 is.Īlso being better doesn't mean it's better in all aspects that are things the X32/M32 are way better, The X32/M32 have an amazing Remote Control app for the iPAD, actually the best remote app ever made from any console, while the Wing has a terrible remote app called "copilot" thats is really badly designed and structured, they should have copy the X32 remote app for the Wing.Īlso the X32/M32 have an offline editor, the Wing doesn't, for this reason if I have a show this weekend I would accept a X32/M32 and I would completely refuse the Wing as I couldn't prepare the session before the show.įor the time being I will refuse in all my riders a Wing console.īut as I actually like the console and it's features I'm really looking forward for the future release of an Offline software so I can start to accept it in the riders and actually buy one. My post was only concerning real needs and real problems of professional sound Engineers when using this console. I can't comment on that since I only work with professional acts and all my colleagues are professional mixing engineers, so I don't personally know anyone that is doing this job that don't understand sound or mixing. There are a lot of people that have gotten into digital mixer that don’t even understand sound or mixing. Many Engineers do the same, as Paul also explained he uses the X32 Edit extensively for Pre-Event setup, I do the same as most Touring Engineers that don't tour with a fixed console will do also.īTW most of the problems that people are having with digital mixers (not just the WING) are related to a lack of experience. I always and always prepare the session before the gig, most of the times in the previous days at home, but other times when I have too many gigs in a row and travelling a lot to the gigs I prepare the Session in my computer when I'm in the Van on the way to the show. It's been many years now that I never go to any gig without having the Session file prepared for the console that is supplied. You have easy access to a Wing, so yes you will not feel the same need for an offline editor as everyone else that doesn't have access to the console before the show and needs to prepare a Session file for the show beforehand. You are missing something really important, is that you are only viewing the situation for a very personal point of view and not from what other people might need. Since the console is configured quickly, the offline editor does not seem the most essential. While I think an offline editor would be really nice to have I have been using the WING for concerts and been getting along fine without an offline editor but I have had easy access to a WING.
